First started in 2007 by the Football Association of Football (FAS), the Singapore Masters 9 tournament provides a competitive platform for  veterans to roll back the years and showcase their skills and talents on the pitch. Some of the local football luminaries gracing this year event include ex-internationals like Rafi Ali and Zulkarnaen Zainal as well as 1980s Malaysia Cup hero Leong Kok Fann.

This year, PlayPal Football partnered with FAS to digitize the administration of stats and results for the event as well as provide live update through our mobile app and a digital display in the stadium. Participating veteran teams signed up for the event using the PlayPal Football app where they registered their players, communicated with each other, and received the latest feed for matches. In doing away with the traditional method of recording stats and results on papers, our digital platform proved to be a hit with players and officials, drawing positive comments for the availability of real-time information provided to players for the event.

From the level of play and the intensity of tackles witnessed during the event, we must say that Singaporean veterans are always game and looking forward to play football at a competitive level. Friendships were rekindled and forged during the event and we definitely sense the event bringing the football community closer together. “We would definitely love to come back for more of such tournaments, as the atmosphere is different from that of social teams where there is a wide age range! It is competitive and allows us to play against people of our age, whilst making new friends and contacts.” said Mr Azmy, a member of Mates United Football Club.

We are sure everyone who attended this year Singapore Masters 9 enjoyed their time, we know we sure did. Don’t take our words for it, check out all the play and smiling faces from the photos and you will agree too!
